Andy Hopper, a Republican elected to the Texas State House in 2025 to represent the state’s 64th House district, shared several posts on his social media account on May 6, 2026, highlighting endorsements and support for closing Texas primary elections.
In one post from May 6, Hopper wrote: “This is the conservative team that will finish the job of closing the primaries. This is why we are in the fight and failure is not an option. This is an incredible endorsement from @TrueTXProject.”
Later that day, he posted another message containing only an emoji and a link: ” https://t.co/2ajF6xHpzl”.
In a third post on May 6, Hopper expressed appreciation for a fellow supporter: “Proud to know this Parker County patriot. https://t.co/frCodlreDg”.
The issue of closed primaries has been debated in Texas politics for years. Closed primaries restrict participation to registered party members, unlike open primaries where any registered voter can participate regardless of party affiliation. Supporters argue that closed primaries ensure candidates reflect their party’s values, while critics say they limit voter choice.
Hopper succeeded Lynn Stucky as representative for Texas’ 64th House district following his election in 2025.
