Rep. Jared Patterson, a Republican representing Texas’s 106th House district since 2019, has recently criticized House Democrats in a series of posts on his social media account, focusing on legislative gridlock and the impact on Texans.
On August 7, 2025, Patterson posted: “Checks come with a free pair of cuffs!”
The following day, he escalated his criticism against House Democrats by stating: “House Democrats are stealing valuable resources from the Texans who need it the most, all the rub elbows with national politicians and media outlets. They’ve abdicated their duty, betrayed their constituents, and devalued their oath of office. #txlege” (August 8, 2025).
Later that same day, Patterson highlighted delays affecting flood relief legislation: “Every hour House Democrats run from responsibility, Texans suffer.
House Bill 3, our top-priority flood relief bill, was crafted after 25 hours of emotional, gut-wrenching testimony from families who lost everything in the July 4th floods. It has been filed but can’t move” (August 8, 2025).
Patterson was elected to represent Texas’s 106th district in the State House in 2019 after succeeding Pat Fallon. His recent statements reflect ongoing partisan tensions within the Texas legislature over key policy issues such as disaster response and resource allocation.
