Matt Shaheen, a Republican serving in the Texas State House since 2015 for the state’s 66th district, recently posted several statements on his social media account reflecting on Labor Day, mourning the loss of a colleague, and addressing legislative actions.
On September 1, 2025, Shaheen recognized the contributions of workers in Texas and across the nation. He stated, “On Labor Day we honor the men and women who keep Texas moving forward and make our nation strong. America is blessed with prosperity and opportunity because of hard work and freedom!”
Later that day, Shaheen expressed condolences over the passing of former Representative Jodie Laubenberg. In his post from September 1, he wrote, “Heartbroken to learn my dear friend, former Representative Jodie Laubenberg, has passed away. She served Texas w/ great strength & was an incredible conservative voice. She is w/ Jesus now, God bless her family! #txlege”
On September 4, 2025, Shaheen addressed legislative proceedings regarding disciplinary measures for members of the House. He posted: “On the floor late this evening passing new House rules to punish Derelict Democrats who abandoned their constituents & betrayed Texas.”
Shaheen began representing Texas’s 66th House district in 2015 after succeeding Van Taylor. As a member of the Republican Party in Texas’s legislature, he has been active in both commemorative messages and policy discussions through public statements on social media.
