Matt Shaheen, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 66th district since 2015, has used his social media platform to comment on recent legislative issues and share personal reflections.
On August 9, 2025, Shaheen addressed concerns about internet connectivity at the Texas Capitol. He stated, “Those of us who show up for work & respect our constituents can tell you the internet at the Capitol is working quite well. #txlege”
Later that day, Shaheen criticized Democratic lawmakers and voiced support for legislation addressing absenteeism among state representatives. He posted on August 9, 2025: “While Derelict Democrats continue to play games & betray Texas, I’m working to help pass HB 257, to ensure a member’s seat is vacated if they are guilty of excessive absences. #txlege”
On August 10, 2025, Shaheen shared a religious message with his followers. The post read: “Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. #SundayMorning #Jesus”
Shaheen has served in the Texas State House since succeeding Van Taylor in 2015.
