Matt Shaheen, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 66th district since 2015, used his social media platform in mid-April 2026 to comment on issues ranging from political violence to economic forecasts for Texas.

On April 13, Shaheen called on party leaders to address internal divisions, writing, “The Democrat Party must address the growing violence from its extremist Marxist base.”

A day later, on April 14, he posted about recent developments affecting liberal Democrats: “Another defeat for liberal Democrat extremists who have an unhealthy obsession w/ how people have sex.”

On April 15, Shaheen highlighted economic projections for Texas: “More than 278,000 jobs to be added in Texas in 2026. No doubt about it, the outlook for Texas is incredible w/ conservative economic policies.”

Shaheen has served as a state representative since replacing Van Taylor in 2015. His statements reflect ongoing partisan debates within Texas politics and come at a time when job growth projections are receiving attention statewide.
