Matt Shaheen, a Republican who has represented Texas’s 66th House district since 2015, posted a series of tweets in mid-January 2026 addressing topics ranging from community events to criticism of local institutions and the media.
On January 14, 2026, Shaheen highlighted his participation in a charitable event by stating, “Attended a wonderful Charity Concert benefiting Children’s Health.”
Later that day, he commented on recent developments involving Celina Independent School District’s Athletic Director. In his tweet dated January 14, 2026, Shaheen wrote: “I am beyond disgusted to learn Celina ISD will not terminate its Athletic Director after his son, who worked for him as a coach, was charged with possession of child pornography and sexual performance of a child. Avoiding the consequences by allowing a “retirement” is totally”.
The following day, January 15, 2026, Shaheen turned his attention to the media with another critical statement: “The media is a worthless extension of the Democrat Party.”
Shaheen has served in the Texas State House since replacing Van Taylor in 2015. He is known for taking public stances on issues affecting his district and for expressing strong opinions regarding both educational institutions and national political discourse.
