Matt Shaheen, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 66th district since 2015, has used social media to voice concerns regarding Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and to promote an upcoming fundraising event.
On October 30, 2025, Shaheen posted about his recent appearance on WFAA, stating: “My interview on WFAA about DART’s failure to address egregious overcharging of cities like Plano & how three cities consider withdrawing from the failed system.” The post highlighted ongoing dissatisfaction with DART among several North Texas cities.
Later that day, Shaheen promoted a community event via Twitter. He wrote: “Our Annual MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL FUNDRAISER will be November 17th! Use the link below to join our growing LIST of SPONSORS!”
Continuing his criticism of DART, Shaheen posted again on October 31, 2025: “My interview on Fox4 about DART’s failure to address massive overcharging of multiple cities including Plano. Three cities are considering leaving the failed transit system.”
Shaheen has represented Texas’s 66th House district since being elected in 2015, succeeding Van Taylor. His public statements reflect ongoing debates in North Texas regarding municipal participation in regional transportation authorities and local government funding priorities.
