Matt Shaheen, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 66th district since 2015, recently posted a series of tweets addressing political and social issues.

On April 29, 2026, Shaheen commented on state-level governance by stating, “Blue states will continue to get crushed under the weight of failed liberal Democrat policies.”

The following morning, on April 30, he shared his experience at a local religious event: “Great morning at the Christian Prayer Breakfast of Collin County listening to the testimony of Texas Rangers All Star Elvis Andrus. #Jesus”

Later that day, Shaheen addressed historical and current issues related to voting rights and race in another tweet: “Lies & ignorance from Democrats about the Voting Rights Act. They were the ones who implemented poll taxes & literacy tests to prevent blacks from voting & now fund racism through the Southern Poverty Law Center. The truth is vote dilution based on race is still prohibited.”

Shaheen has served in the Texas State House since his election in 2015, succeeding Van Taylor as representative for District 66.
