Matt Shaheen, a Republican elected to the Texas State House in 2015 representing the state’s 66th House district, has recently posted several statements on his social media account addressing political and societal issues.
On September 16, 2025, Shaheen criticized public broadcasting and condemned certain reactions to violence. He wrote, “This isn’t about not baking cakes for gays, this is about crazies celebrating the violent murder of a father & husband. @PBS is a worthless extension of the Democrat Party.”
Later that day, he commented on Democratic policies, stating, “Failed liberal Democrat policies always harm the very people targeted to help! #VoteGOP” (September 16, 2025).
On September 17, 2025, Shaheen reflected on constitutional principles. He posted: “The Constitution established the framework for our government, safeguards our freedoms, & sets forth the principles of liberty & justice that continue to shape America today.

Shaheen succeeded Van Taylor in representing Texas’s 66th House district after being elected in 2015.
