Matt Shaheen, a Republican who has represented Texas’s 66th House district since 2015, published a series of tweets on May 3 and May 4, 2026, addressing religious themes and making pointed allegations against the Democratic Party.

On May 3, Shaheen posted a Bible verse, writing: “John 13:7 Jesus answered him, ‘What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.’ #SundayMorning #Jesus” (May 3, 2026).

The following day, Shaheen made several accusations regarding the Democratic Party. He tweeted: “The Democrat Party must address its systemic racism and use of violence:
– Democrats are running a Senate candidate who has a Nazi tattoo
– Democrats founded and are now funding the KKK through the SPLC
– Democrats are fighting for racially segregated congressional districts
-“
(May 4, 2026).

Later on May 4, he commented on an incident involving law enforcement: “Liberal Democrat extremists continue their assault on law enforcement. Trying to kill ICE agents with a vehicle has already cost a radical leftist their life.” (May 4, 2026).

Shaheen has served in the Texas State House since his election in 2015, succeeding Van Taylor as representative of District 66.
