On September 11, 2025, Shaheen marked the anniversary of the September 11 attacks with a message commemorating victims and first responders. He stated, “September 11, 2001 forever changed our nation. We honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, & the countless families who still carry the weight of that day. Never forget.”
Later that same day, Shaheen posted about his participation in a community event. He wrote on September 11, 2025: “Loved speaking at the Prestonwood Business Breakfast this morning, discussing the huge wins this past legislative session.”
On September 12, 2025, Shaheen commented on Matthew Dowd with a critical statement: “Matthew Dowd is a disgrace & should have been fired.”
Shaheen has served in the Texas State House since being elected in 2015 to represent District 66. He succeeded Van Taylor in this role.
