Judge Andy Eads expressed his condolences and an additional warning following the latest fatality from the coronavirus pandemic in Denton County.
“As we report the loss of a fifth life to COVID-19 in Denton County [Friday], we hope everyone will take a moment to keep our fellow residents affected by this pandemic in your thoughts and prayers,” Eads said, according to Community Impact. “The seriousness of taking precautions cannot be overstated. With community spread endemic in our county, we must take the necessary steps to ensure we do not contribute to the problem.”
The latest death in Denton was a Carrollton man who was in his 70s. Health officials say that the man caught the virus via transmission, which speaks to its severity and contagiousness.
Through April 4, Texas has reported 6,110 cases of the coronavirus, with 105 fatalities. This includes 273 cases in Denton County and 256 in Collin County.
According to Community Impact, as of April 2, health officials within the counties of Collin and Denton confirmed three new cases of COVID-19 in Frisco.
