The City of Coppell has established two grant programs with a goal of distributing $1.6 million to help small businesses and restaurants that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Coppell CARES Restaurant Assistance Grant will aid restaurants that have experienced financial distress due to the pandemic. Grant awards are based on occupancy – those that qualify will be awarded $55 per allowable occupant. To qualify, an establishment must be located within the city limits of Coppell, must not be in any litigation with the City of Coppell or the county they're in, must have a physical storefront in the city of Coppell, and must demonstrate that they have endured a 25% or greater reduction in business after March 1 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Coppell CARES Business Retrofit Grant is to help Coppell businesses cover the expense of retrofitting their spaces to meet public health and safety needs by installing plexiglass barriers, hand sanitizing stations and the like. Business retrofit grant awards are based on the actual dollar amount spent by the business on qualifying items. To qualify, businesses must be located within the city limits of Coppell, must not be in any litigation with the City of Coppell or the county they're in, must have a physical storefront in the City of Coppell, and must be open to the public to conduct business.
