Four Named to WGCA All-American Scholar List

The North Texas women's golf team had four players named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar list, it was announced on Tuesday.

Senior Audrey Tan (3.95), juniors Marija Jucmane (3.85) and Emilie Ricaud (3.72) and sophomore Shreya Pal (4.00) were all named to the prestigious list, which has some of the most stringent criteria for selection in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and a participation threshold of more than half of the team's tournaments from the past season.

"I am very proud of Audrey, Shreya, Emilie and Marija for being named to the All-American Scholar team," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "It is very impressive to look at what Audrey does on the golf course and then see how she performs in the classroom. I know she makes sacrifices in order to succeed at a high level in both. Shreya, Emilie and Marija all have an outstanding track record in the classroom in their time at UNT. Emilie has been very productive on the golf course during her career but when an injury knocked her out this spring both Shreya and Marija jumped in and really helped us. Winning conference was truly a team accomplishment."

The team repeated as Conference USA champions this year before advancing to the NCAA Regional in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Mean Green finished the year ranked No. 47 in the final Golfstat national poll.

Tan was named first-team All-Conference USA for the second straight season.
