To ring in the holiday season, the Texas Woman's athletic department will host its annual Holiday Spectacular on Sunday, Dec. 4.
The name spectacular truly embodies what the entire event will be. Four TWU teams will be featured at the event, showcasing their skills and talents in celebration of the holidays.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. in the Pioneer Hall Pool. In their second year of competition, the Artistic Swimming team will showcase several routines to holiday-themed music. The first routine will feature a special performer, Stanford Hall of Famer, Olympic Bronze Medalist and TWU Head Coach Sara Lilly.
Artistic Swimming will alternate performances with the Pioneer Pride Dance Team, who will perform holiday routines on the pool deck. The pool portion will culminate with a joint number by Artistic Swimming and Pioneer Pride.
Following the showcase in the pool, the TWU STUNT team will debut their second-year team in Kitty Magee Arena at 1:45 p.m. The team will present various elements from jumps and tumbling to stunting.
At 2 p.m., TWU Gymnastics will compete against each other in an intersquad, with the athletes being split up into two teams named for holiday candy favorites—the candy canes vs. the gumdrops. Between the second and third rotations for gymnastics, Pioneer Pride will perform another holiday number.
Gymnastics will start off on vault and bars before ending the afternoon on beam and floor. After the fourth and final rotation, the Pioneer gymnasts will be joined by a special guest (ho ho ho) on the floor, and they will perform their annual holiday dance.
At the conclusion of the dance, guests will be dismissed to the track for a free photo opportunity with Santa Claus.
All guests will be admitted for free to all events on Sunday. We ask when entering the pool for the Artistic Swimming and Pioneer Pride performance please use the south outer door to enter the pool for safety purposes.
Arrive early to receive a Holiday Spectacular t-shirt and TWU spring schedule magnet.
The event will also be live-streamed for free. To view Artistic Swimming and dance, click here. For STUNT and gymnastics, click here.
