Michelle Young, co-founder and CEO of Legacy Plumbing, said that when she and her husband Theron started the business in 2006, their main focus was starting a business with quality service.

She said the company will continue that focus after being acquired by Ace Hardware earlier this month.

"Our company was founded in 2006 by my husband and myself, so Theron Young is the founder and he is a master plumber," Michelle told North Texas News. "He has been a plumber for over 30 years and he always knew that he wanted to own his own plumbing company."

In 2006, when the company was established, Theron made steps to get the company started, despite facing financial constraints. During the scorching summer in Plano, Texas, he went door to door within their neighborhood, distributing flyers to local residents. Their resources were scarce, but their vision was immense: to create something that would revolutionize the industry.

"Ever since he started in the trade, he had this vision of creating a business where employees and customers were treated the way he wanted to be treated," Michelle said. "He was tired of working for individuals who really didn't give quality service and who had sneaky foot-in-the-door tactics, and just really were painting a bad image of what a plumber was."

Michelle's engagement with the company began around 2011. She boasts a strong background in finance and accounting, having spent an extended period working at a corporate job. Her decision to join Legacy was driven by the desire to contribute to its growth and facilitate its journey to its current state and the ambitious visions it holds for the future.

Legacy Plumbing provides services from new installations, to standard maintenance and repairs, according to the company's website. Legacy points out that customers can reach out to them for any issue, big or small.

In August of 2023, Legacy Plumbing was acquired by Ace Hardware, according to a press release. Michelle and Theron will maintain their role in overseeing the business, while also gaining access to Ace's expertise and broader range of products at a more affordable price point, all while utilizing the award-winning service that both Ace and Legacy have built their reputations upon.
