Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee and Chairman of the House Budget Committee Health Taskforce, announced the release of the House Budget Committee's Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Resolution. In contrast to the President's budget, Burgess highlighted that the House Budget Committee's budget request offers a 10-year balanced budget without compromising the vital benefits of Social Security and Medicare.
In his statement, Burgess emphasized the committee's commitment to responsible fiscal stewardship, stating, "Our budget is a testament to our commitment to responsible fiscal stewardship. This budget champions pro-growth tax policies that alleviate the burden on the middle class and small businesses, fostering economic growth and job creation."
Burgess further highlighted the significant reduction in the gross federal debt compared to the President's budget, stating, "It's a budget that doesn't just talk the talk but walks the walk by reducing the gross federal debt by a staggering $14.6 trillion when compared to the President's budget."
Addressing the need for fiscal restraint, Burgess noted, "It's time for our nation to tighten its belt, much like countless American families have had to do." He criticized the President's budget for lacking a clear plan to rein in spending and for including woke priorities and radical climate measures that exacerbate financial pressures on American families.
The House Budget Committee's budget request aims to reflect the values and priorities of the American people, according to Burgess. He concluded his statement by emphasizing the importance of their proposed budget in supporting American families.
