Legacy Plumbing is committed to positively impacting lives and believes in the importance of spreading positivity and aiding those in need. Upon discovering The Water Project, the company recognized the opportunity to contribute to the mission of providing clean water to thousands of people.
"We have been donating to The Water Project since 2013," Michelle Young, co-founder and CEO of Legacy Plumbing, said in an interview with North Texas News. "Legacy has always been passionate about water conservation. Additionally, our purpose is to transform the lives of others. With those two passions, Legacy was drawn to The Water Project and immediately had a great connection with their team."
The Water Project, Inc. is a registered non-profit organization that seeks to alleviate the struggles faced by communities in sub-Saharan Africa due to inadequate access to clean water and proper sanitation. Since 2006, the organization has been actively involved in facilitating the construction of water projects, offering training, expertise, and financial support through their dedicated staff and partnering organizations.
"The organization is run exceptionally well, with complete transparency and effective project management," Young said. "The Legacy Team really enjoys seeing photos of the projects we contribute to. It is inspiring and motivating for our team to know that a portion of our profits are going to help people in need and to see the impact of their hard work and dedication."
Legacy Plumbing recently funded its 10th clean-water project in Kenya, specifically for Kyamulinge Primary School. The project includes the construction of a rainwater collection tank, latrines, and hand washing stations. Additionally, the initiative involves community education on the significance of clean water usage in preventing illnesses like Ebola and COVID-19.
Young says that Legacy is planning on contributing to another project towards the end of 2023.
Michelle Young and her husband Theron started Legacy Plumbing in 2006 with a focus of providing quality service. The company provides services from new installations to standard maintenance and repairs, according to the company's website. Legacy points out that customers can reach out to them for any issue, big or small.
In August 2023 Legacy Plumbing joined the Ace Hardware family of companies. Michelle and Theron will continue to lead the business and said in a statement posted to the company’s LinkedIn page, they are poised to provide an “even better customer experience” at an even more competitive price point via direct access to Ace’s product range and expertise.
