Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Chairman of the Rules Committee, recently delivered the keynote address at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School commencement ceremony. In his speech, he emphasized the crucial role that this generation of doctors will play in advocating for their patients and alleviating human suffering.

"I want to congratulate and commemorate the UTSW Medical School Class of 2024 for completing their studies and reaching this momentous milestone," said Congressman Burgess. "Each of them has demonstrated excellence in their education and skills and is ready to be the next generation of doctors that will advocate for the needs of patients in America. I was grateful to be the keynote speaker and encouraged them to take seriously the role we play as doctors in our patients' lives. At the end of the day, the patient depends on us for their care. I am looking forward to seeing these doctors succeed in administering the utmost care to Americans across the nation.”
