Washington, D.C. - Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Chairman of the Rules Committee, announced Vamika Bangarukathi as the 2024 Congressional Art Competition winner for her oil painting entitled "Land of My Dreams." Vamika is a rising senior at Hebron High School in Carrollton. This annual congressional competition is open to public, private, and home-schooled high school students in the 26th Congressional District.

"Congratulations to Vamika Bangarukathi for winning this year's Congressional Art Competition contest," said Chairman Burgess. "Her painting shows the true abundance in beauty of our great Lone Star State. It's no secret that Texas has some of the most talented students in the country. I am looking forward to her future success and wish her all the best in her educational studies."

Vamika attended a celebratory reception in Washington, D.C., with other winners from across the country. During the day, she toured the U.S. Capitol, viewed her artwork in the Capitol Tunnel leading to the House of Representatives floor, and met with Congressman Burgess.
