The City of Coppell has extended its budget calendar due to COVID-19-related delays, and the City Council will not review the proposed budget and tax rate for next fiscal year until Sept. 15.

Coppell City Manager Mike Land said the delay hinges on receiving certified property values, which are necessary for calculating the proposed tax rate, according to a news release.

“We have decided to extend the budget approval timeline to allow staff time to revise the budget as needed after we receive the certified values from the appraisal district," Land said.

The city still has published a preliminary budget and tax rate in order to keep with the Aug. 5 deadline normally required for the proposed budget, permitting members of the public to get a preview of what the ultimate tax rate and budget may be.
