Denton County Office of Emergency Management recently hosted a meeting for the Family Reunification Center and Assistant Center (FRC/FAC) Planning Committee, which consists of local emergency managers, independent school districts, institutions of higher education, police, fire, nonprofits, public health, and Denton County hospitals. Their time was spent coordinating plans in the event of a major emergency.
The purpose of the meeting was to enhance productive dialogue between all involved parties on community and school safety in Denton County.
The first meeting involved review and discussion of an active shooter incident and how departments would coordinate with each other in response as well as work together in support. The group also discussed all-hazards response plans and resources for local emergency managers, independent school districts, institutions of higher education, police, fire, nonprofits, public health, and Denton County hospitals.
Updates were also presented by Denton County Public Health, the Denton County Medical Examiner’s Office, Emergency Management and several local volunteer groups which could be activated in times of crisis.
The group will continue to meet on a regular basis to plan and coordinate collectively for future situations that could occur in Denton County to ensure response and recovery efforts are most beneficial for the affected public.
We are grateful for the work Denton County Office of Emergency Management continues to do to keep Denton County prepared and ready for any type of emergency and response efforts.
