College of Business earns coveted accreditation status
Texas Woman’s College of Business took a big leap toward excellence this month, earning accreditation from AACSB International —The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), considered the world’s leading association of business schools.
Less than 6% of business schools worldwide have gained the association’s accreditation, which is a highly-coveted designation that demonstrates a business college has met the most rigorous standards of excellence in business education. Texas Woman’s College of Business becomes one of 965 business schools across 60 countries and territories that have received the association’s accreditation.
“AACSB accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “We congratulate Texas Woman's University and Dean Rama Yelkur on earning accreditation and applaud the entire College of Business team—including the administration, faculty, staff, and students—for their roles in earning this respected honor.”
“This accreditation is the gold standard for business education and achieving it is a testament to the quality and excellence of our faculty and staff and the high standards of learning we hold our students to in the College of Business,” said Rama Yelkur, the college’s dean. “Our students can be assured that they will receive a quality, innovative education that prepares them for careers and to become global citizens.”
TWU’s business college was among the first schools to be accredited under AACSB’s 2020 business standards. These new, principles-based standards were created to support schools as they deliver on their unique mission, emphasize outcomes in learning and research and demonstrate positive societal impact. The COB is the only business school with AACSB accreditation in Texas that offers an MBA with an emphasis in Women in Leadership.
“This accreditation solidifies the degree that current and prospective students receive from the COB as the College is recognized as one of the world's top business schools,” Yelkur said.
The accreditation process is a comprehensive review of a school’s mission, faculty qualifications, and curricula, and includes in-depth self-evaluations and reviews by peers and committees. This accreditation ensures that COB has the resources, credentials, and commitment needed to provide students with a first-rate, future-focused business education.
