Washington, D.C. - Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), has voted to adopt H. Res. 863, which impeaches Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, for high crimes and misdemeanors. Burgess, who is the Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee and Chairman of the House Budget Committee Health Task Force, expressed his concerns about Mayorkas's performance and breach of public trust.

In his statement, Burgess highlighted Mayorkas's failure to effectively control and guard the border of the United States, as well as his inability to protect and defend the country and its constitution. Burgess emphasized that Mayorkas's actions have not only compromised national security but have also eroded public trust.

"The American people, especially those I represent in Texas, have had enough of Alejandro Mayorkas's lies," Burgess stated. "Contrary to what the Secretary says, the border is not secure. America is, in fact, less safe because of his blatant negligence. Every day that Mayorkas remains at the head of the Department of Homeland Security is another day of disservice to the American people. Today, the House voted to hold him accountable."

Burgess's concerns echo the sentiments of many Americans who believe that the border security situation is far from satisfactory. The House's decision to impeach Secretary Mayorkas reflects the growing frustration and dissatisfaction with his performance.

The impeachment vote serves as a clear message that the American people expect their government officials to uphold their duties and responsibilities with integrity and competence. The vote also signifies the importance of maintaining the security and well-being of the nation.

As the impeachment proceedings against Secretary Mayorkas progress, it remains to be seen what impact this will have on the Department of Homeland Security and its future policies. The outcome of the impeachment trial will undoubtedly shape the course of the department's leadership and its approach to border security.

In the face of these developments, the American people will continue to hold their elected officials accountable for their actions and decisions. The impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas is a reflection of this commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the United States.
