Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Chairman of the House Budget Committee Health Taskforce, expressed strong criticism of President Biden’s proposed Fiscal Year 2025 Budget. In a statement released, Burgess highlighted the economic challenges faced by Americans under the current administration.

“The truth is, under this administration, the economy is simply not working for the American people. The cost of living for American citizens has reached unbearable levels. In my home state of Texas, the price for housing has doubled in three years and the cost of food and energy is greater than Americans can afford,” said Congressman Burgess.

He further added, “Today, Americans saw that President Biden’s proposed budget is a continued attempt to rob them of their hard-earned taxpayer money. This is another testament to the Biden Administration’s ignorance to the real issues facing Americans and complete disregard to fiscal responsibility. This disastrous plan will use trillions of taxpayer dollars to fund President Biden’s personal radical, left-wing agenda, and anti-American policies.”

Burgess criticized the budget for lacking alignment with conservative values and accused President Biden of leaving House Republicans to address the consequences of his policies. However, he expressed optimism about the House Budget Committee’s own budget plan, emphasizing its focus on cutting down ineffective government spending, reducing inflation, and allocating funds in a manner that supports the needs of American citizens.

With these contrasting perspectives on the budget plans, the debate over fiscal priorities and economic policies is expected to continue in the coming months.
