City of Lewisville issued the following announcement on Feb. 1
The Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is running a $20 adoption special for all dogs through Feb. 19.
Regular adoption fee is normally $90.
To see some of the animals up for adoption and for the adoption process visit lewisvillepets.com/adopt. Click on the picture of the dog or cat to adopt and fill out the online application. Once the application is submitted, Lewisville Animal Services will call the applicant on or before the next business day. While on the phone, and if approved, staff will counsel the potential adoption and will schedule an appointment for a Cat Visit or Dog Visit. Visits will be scheduled no later than 24 hours after staff has contacted the approved applicant.
Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is located at 995 E. Valley Ridge, across from the north entrance to Railroad Park.
The adoption fee includes sterilization, microchip, Viral Vaccines, Rabies Vaccine, Heartworm or FIV/FELV Testing (if applicable), one Year City Registration (if Lewisville resident), 30 Days of Free Pet Insurance and an Adoption Kit (includes small bag of pet food).
Virtual and in-person adoptions are available. The facility is open Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and noon-5 p.m. on Saturday.
