29

City of Lewisville issued the following announcement on Feb. 25

The annual LISD Middle School Art Show, featuring art from every school in the district, begins Friday, March 4, at Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

Works of art in this show were selected by a jury and prizes are awarded through a partnership with the Visual Art League. This exhibit runs through Saturday, March 19.

The remaining two shows will feature works of art from LISD Elementary-East, and LISD Elementary-West. Student works for those shows are selected by art teachers. Elementary-East works will be on view March 25-April 9; and Elementary-West works will be on view April 19-30.

All sections of the LISD Art Show will be on view in the Gallery at The Grand and available for viewing during gallery hours, Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and evenings when there are other programs going on at The Grand. The Grand Gallery is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Masks are not required inside The Grand, but anyone who feels more comfortable with a mask or has not been fully vaccinated is strongly encouraged to wear one when physical distancing cannot be maintained.

The Grand is Lewisville's home for the arts. It presents a variety of regional and national touring performers, art exhibits, and classes, while also giving the many arts groups in the greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works. Its multiple performance spaces play host to a variety of events, including live music, theater, dance performances, comedy shows, and more. The center features a 294-seat performance hall, black box theater, recital hall, art gallery, and courtyard.

To reach The Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.

For details about upcoming events, or rental information for the facility, please visit LewisvilleGrand.com or call 972.219.8446.

This event supports the “Old Town” Big Move in the Lewisville 2025 vision plan. The full plan can be viewed online at cityoflewisville.com/lewisville2025.
