Earlier this month, Rival IQ released its first Higher Education Social Media Engagement Report: Division 2 edition. Midwestern State University secured the No. 3 position of the 305 schools reviewed, trailing closely behind Northern Michigan University and Colorado Schools of Mines.
“We are very proud of our social media team and the work they are doing to share the Midwestern State University story and message. Our university is fortunate to have some of the most creative and forward-thinking professionals as part of our digital marketing and social media teams,” said President JuliAnn Mazachek.
Rival IQ reviewed the work of colleges and universities on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok. Of note for Midwestern State was the work performed for Twitter and TikTok. “Midwestern State University had some of the most engaging TikTok videos of the year by view,” stated the Rival IQ story. The story states that only about two-thirds of Division 2 institutions have TikTok accounts even though the channel is growing exponentially.
“We recognized early on how important TikTok would be to engage with new and current students,” said AJ Lopez III, assistant director for digital marketing and social media. “TikTok continues to show us the importance of video to any social media strategy. Using video influences how we create content for other MSU Texas social media channels.”
