PIONEERS USHER IN 2023 WITH A ROAD GAME AT OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
The Texas Woman's basketball will open the new year with a game on the road at Oklahoma Christian.
TWU (10-1, 5-0) will meet OC (1-9, 1-5) on Sunday, Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
The Pioneers played last on Friday night against University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, defeating the Lions 86-75. On the other side, the Eagles also played on Friday. OC faced UT Tyler and narrowly lost by three points, 56-53.
With the win on Friday, the Pioneers remain one of two undefeated teams in the Lone Star Conference, as UT Tyler is still undefeated as well.

CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR WITH THE PIONEERS
- OKLA-HOME-A: Sadie Moyer, a senior from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, will return to her home state on Sunday to face the Eagles. Moyer has played well throughout the first 10 games of her senior season. Last week, Moyer was named the LSC Offensive Player of the week after her performances in New Mexico. Against UAFS, Moyer led the Pioneers on offense with a season-high 24 points on 50% shooting from the field. Look for Moyer to make a big impact in her home state on Sunday.
- PIONEER PROTECTION: Defense has been the Pioneers go-to strength this season. When things have been stagnant on offense, TWU has been able to limit the scoring of their opponents to remain connected in games. The Pioneers have held their opponent to less than 10 points in quarter six times this season. In their loss to UT Tyler, OC scored less than 10 points in the first and fourth quarter. The Eagles shot just 38% from the field, 30% from the three point line and 64% from the free throw line against UT Tyler. The Eagles also turned the ball over 24 times. Limiting scoring and forcing turnovers will be key for the Pioneers on Sunday.
- SHARE THE WEALTH: In their last game, five different Pioneers scored in double digits: Moyer, Ashley Ingram, Scout Huffman, Ngozi Obineke and Jordan Jackson. Ingram finished the game with 12 rebounds to go with her 13 points on 100% shooting from the free throw line. Brielle Woods and Jada Celsur led TWU with three steals each. The Pioneers will look for everyone to make an impact on defense and offense in the game on Saturday.
