ASHLEY INGRAM NAMED LSC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

For the first time in her career, Ashley Ingram was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Ingram helped guide the Pioneers to two more LSC wins last week over Texas A&M International and Texas A&M – Kingsville.

On the defensive end, Ingram worked to lock down the paint scoring of both TWU's opponents. Against TAMIU on Thursday, Feb. 9, Ingram held conference leading scorer Rai Brown to just 10 points, tying the second-lowest offensive game of her career. She also held Brown to just five total rebounds.

Ingram went 100% from the free throw line in the win over the Dustdevils. She also recorded three steals, two blocks and seven rebounds in the win.

Against Texas A&M – Kingsville, Ingram guided the Pioneers' defense to holding the Javelinas to their second-lowest score of the season at 48 points. In the win, Ingram scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds and shot 4-6 from the field.

Ingram currently ranks fifth in the LSC in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game. She ranks 16th in the conference in rebounds with 6.8 per game. Furthermore, she is 13th in the LSC in blocked shots with 0.9 per game.

The Defensive Player of the Week award marks the first defensive weekly award for Ingram in her career, but her fifth overall conference weekly award. It is the first time this season a Pioneer has been named the Defensive Player of the Week and the fourth time the Pioneers have earned a weekly award.
