Northwest ISD has named Christi Drilling as its new executive director of financial services, placing a longtime school finance leader over several key programs at the fastest-growing school district in North Texas.

Throughout her 25-year career in school finance, Ms. Drilling has implemented best practices to ensure financial accountability and transparency in public school districts. For the past 10 years, Ms. Drilling has served as director of financial services at nearby Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, where she oversees all financial reporting and accountability. By joining Northwest ISD, she fills a position that has remained vacant since Jonathan Pastusek was named chief financial officer in January.

“I’m eager to join the Northwest ISD team in support of our teachers, staff and community through the appropriate use of funding provided by our taxpayers,” she said. “This district has a strong reputation of financial excellence, and all of our work is to provide students with the resources they need to be successful in the classroom and beyond.”

In her time at Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Ms. Drilling has been instrumental in the district annually earning financial transparency and reporting awards from the Association of School Business Officials International and the Government Finance Officers Association. Additionally, she has been honored as part of an employee recognition program for Top 100 Employee Award for embodying the district’s values of purpose, innovation and community.

Prior to her time in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Ms. Drilling served in financial leadership roles at both Carroll ISD and Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. Beginning her career in Carroll ISD, Ms. Drilling served as director of finance and chief accountant after rising through the ranks of accounting supervisor and accounting clerk. In her role, she was responsible for accounting and reporting for all funds in the general ledger. At Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD, Ms. Drilling served as director of budget, taxes and investment, and she led the budget process, investments and bond and capital projects.

As an active member of the Texas Association of School Business Officials, Ms. Drilling is a Registered Texas School Business Administrator. She is also associated with TASBO’s Center for School Finance and Budget Cohort.

Ms. Drilling earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from Texas Woman’s University.
