Ousmane Named C-USA Player of the Week

North Texas junior forward Abou Ousmane was named the Conference USA Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

Ousmane scored a single-game career-high 37 points on Thursday in the Mean Green's 78-54 win at UTSA. This is the Brooklyn, New York, native's first player of the week honor of his career. He is the first UNT men's basketball player this season to earn the league's weekly accolade.

His 37-point performance at UTSA on Thursday was accomplished without even attempting a single 3-pointer. Ousmane was 15-of-19 from the floor against the Roadrunners. His 15 made field goals are the most made field goals in a single game by a C-USA player this season.

Furthermore, it's the most points scored by a C-USA player without making a 3-pointer in the game in over a decade. It's also the most points scored by a Mean Green men's basketball player without making a 3-pointer since Deginiald Erskin in 1999.

Ousmane, who also had 11 rebounds in the win at UTSA for his third double-double of the season, is one of the top offensive rebounders in the nation as he averages nearly four offensive rebounds per game.

UNT fans and families can purchase one ticket and get up to four tickets free for the men's basketball home games on Dec. 29 and Dec. 31 versus FAU and FIU. Or for the women's basketball games on Jan. 5 and Jan. 7. This offer is for advance purchase only. Contact the Mean Green Ticket Office at 940-565-2527 for more information.
